چکیده

In this work, we study the provisioning of Quality of Service for the third generation wireless CDMA networks, where users can demand multi-media services with diverse QoS requirements. By considering not only the link rate but also the link quality of unreliable wireless channels, we introduce a new concept called virtual bandwidth to characterize the resource consumption of user traffic. Based on virtual bandwidth, a cell-wise model is developed for the reverse link of CDMA by considering different QoS constraints across network layers, including the aggregation of user traffic, user-power limit, path loss, interference, and QoS specifications at the network layer. The admission of users with heterogeneous traffic and diverse QoS requirements can thus be investigated based on the model. We also evaluate the impact of traffic burstiness and transmission schemes using either one or multiple channels.

Eeective Bandwidth Based Admission Control for Multi-service Cdma Cellular Networks

In this paper we develop product form traac models for single and multiple cell CDMA networks with multiple classes of mobile subscriber. The key feature of this development is the speciication of a exible call admission control procedure that details the numbers of mobiles of each class in each cell that the system operator should allow in order to maintain an acceptable quality of service. Access Control for QoS Provisioning in Integrated Voice/Data CDMA Systems

Third generation (3G) wireless systems stipulate simultaneous support of diverse services ranging from voice to several forms of data. The quality of service (QoS) guarantees needed by the spectrum of services offered in a wireless integrated system can be provided by employing access control protocols. Access control for efficient radio resource management requires studying its interaction wit...

Scalable Quasi-Dynamic-Provisioning-Based Admission Control Mechanism in Differentiated Service Networks

Woo-Seop Rhee et al. 27 The architecture in a differentiated services (DiffServ) network is based on a simple model that applies a per-class service in the core node of the network. However, because the network behavior is simple, the network structure and provisioning is complicated. If a service provider wants dynamic provisioning or a better bandwidth guarantee, the differentiated services n...

Joint Call Admission Control in Integrated Wireless LAN and 3G Cellular Networks

The fourth-generation (4G) (Liu, 2004) system is expected to support fully integrated services and ubiquitous access anytime and anywhere. Instead of developing a new uniform standard for all wireless communication systems, some endeavors in 4G research focus on the seamless integration of various existing wireless communication networks, such as integrated Wireless LAN (WLAN) and the third-gen...

An Intelligent Call Admission Control Scheme for Quality of Service Provisioning in a Multi-traffic CDMA network

In Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) mobile cellular network, quality of service (QoS) provisioning of diverse user applications is a great challenge due to scarcity of wireless radio resources and the different QoS requirements demanded by the users. An effective call admission control (CAC) algorithm is needed for optimization of existing resources and better admission control to improve t...
